Anonymous attack on Facebook tomorrow, true or bluff?

The well known hacker group Anonymous released a video in August claiming that they were going to attack Facebook on November 5th 2011. That is tomorrow. Facebook has over 800 million active users around the globe and each and every one are susceptible to have credentials stolen and accounts shut down due attacks on their servers.

On the other hand, some members of Anonymous have already came public and said and can be read on the enquirer:

We told you many times ddosing Facebook was a fake operation,” says a message posted today on the @Anonops account.

The attack did show some support at first, and the splinter group came forth with a strong message. “Facebook is the opposite of the Antisec cause. You are not safe from them nor from any government. One day you will look back on this and realise what we have done here is right, you will thank the rulers of the internet, we are not harming you but saving you,” it said.

Think for a while and prepare for a day that will go down in history. November 5 2011, #opfacebook . Engaged. This is our world now. We exist without nationality, without religious bias. We have the right to not be surveilled, not be stalked, and not be used for profit. We have the right to not live as slaves.

This is the video the group released in August:

It remains to see if tomorrow is just another ordinary Saturday…
